 Linda Burhans, founder of Professional Women em-Power, developed The Dave Game with her father, Dave, in mind. "My father is my mentor," Linda said. "He showed me what it meant to be kind to everyone. Whether it is the garbage man or a person in his building he is always doing nice things for everybody." Carrying that message to businesswomen in the Tampa Bay Area, she has personally witnessed the powerful effects of "positive thinking and positive ideas".
Though she has done charity work her entire life, Linda had the desire to start a movement of sharing and compassion that was more far-reaching. When Linda learned of World Kindness Week she knew that this was exactly the type of cause she was searching for. She set out to start The Dave Game to extend World Kindness Week to include 365 days a year and, by basing it online, opened it up to potential kind deeds around the world.
Not only is the game fun and simple to play, it's a grassroots experiment of the strength of human kindness that has the potential to circle the globe. In just a short time the movement has spread like crazy. Teachers are involving their students, parents are teaching their children and men and women who have been Daved are starting to look at things a bit more optimistically these days. |
